The church of S. Giorgio and the Church of S. Torpete are both situated in Piazza S. Giorgio. This Piazza was also once the site of an ancient salt market. Piazza Banchi, on the other hand, was historically famous for its wheat market and in later years a building was constructed that became first Commodity Exchange in Italy. Today it is the site of numerous temporary exhibitions.
This palace is well worth visiting. It has some incredibly beautiful 17th century decorations and furniture. The main floor is home to the Galleria degli Specchi and a picture gallery that preserves many prestigious paintings including the Resurrection by Tintoretto.
Via delle Orefici is home to numerous jewellery shops whilst Piazza di Soziglia is the place to visit for famous patisseries and cake shops. The 16th century Palazzo del Melograno is situated in Piazza Campetto.
